Supporting Students
Meet Alana
Alana’s love for education grew when they first volunteered as a reading tutor in the 5th-grade for younger students. From then on, they pursued education as their lifelong passion. They hold two degrees in Language and Literature, with a minor in Linguistics and a Master’s in Literature focusing on Film. Through undergraduate and graduate school, Alana worked in classrooms ranging from elementary to college, where their love of teaching grew! Most recently, they have held teaching positions at Cedar Tree Montessori. This academic year, they will teach at the Northwest School and Seattle Central College alongside their tutoring work with Emergent Education.
During their free time, Alana likes to explore the vast collections of film and television that center people of color. They support local businesses such as Yarn Dragon and SIFF Cinemas that align with their love of cinema and crochet. Additionally, they love to explore the trails and nature that surround the city of Seattle, where they live.
