Meet Georgia
Georgia has been working in classrooms and one-on-one tutoring since 2016. As she’s currently completing her Masters in Teaching at the University of Washington to be a Spanish and ELA teacher, and student-teaching at Franklin High School, she wants to make lasting change in all students’ lives, particularly ones whose learning styles don’t fit the mold of the US education system.
Born in Brazil, and having grown up biculturally, Georgia has always had a passion for language. In São Paulo, Brazil, she taught English to elementary students and provided one-on-one English tutoring to children and adults. In Seattle, she has worked as a student teacher for both Spanish and English classes at the middle and high school level. She also has experience assisting seniors with writing college application essays and navigating the admissions process.
Georgia believes in linguistic justice and teaching students how to thrive in academic settings. Whether it’s writing in English, or learning Spanish, she utilizes an empathetic and adaptive approach that prioritizes the student and their learning, “I want for students, through their own experiences, to learn what language can give them. It opens up a whole new world, new cultures, and changes the way one perceives the world.”
