Meet Kasey
Kasey has loved math and science her whole life, and has a passion for teaching it to others. Throughout high school and college, she provided private tutoring for subjects in math, chemistry, physics, and astronomy. While earning her degree in physics, she became a teaching assistant and academic tutor for the Oregon State University physics department. As a competitive swimmer, she also taught swim lessons for all age groups, earning her valuable teaching experience with younger students.
Kasey’s passion for teaching grew during her undergraduate career as a physics student. As a member, and later the president of the OSU club Physicists for Inclusion in Science (“PhIS”), she was able to participate in and coordinate several outreach events. She created worksheets, designed experiments, and performed demonstrations to encourage young learners to join STEM fields. “I’ve always enjoyed getting people excited about physics and STEM!” While mainly focusing in STEM fields, Kasey also has a great love for writing and English. She has extensive experience in technical writing through her degree, and does creative writing as a hobby.
Qualifications:
- Tutoring experience in STEM and ELA for grades K-12 (2019 – Present)
- B.S. in Physics with a minor in Mathematics from Oregon State University
- (ongoing) M.S. in Optomechanical Engineering from University of Arizona
