Meet Laura

Laura is a lifelong learner and creative problem-solver who brings empathy, curiosity, and joy to her work with students of all ages. She has been tutoring since high school and has worked with people from a wide range of backgrounds and learning styles. Her approach is person-centered and strengths-based: “Everyone has different gifts and abilities. If challenges arise in learning, it’s not because someone can’t understand—it’s about figuring out how they understand.”

Laura believes that learning works best when it’s grounded in authentic connection. She listens closely to her students’ goals, strengths, and challenges, and works collaboratively to find strategies that build confidence and independence. She also brings a sense of play to her sessions and enjoys incorporating games and creative activities to make learning more engaging and effective. “Gamification is a great example of how creativity and fun can help new ideas stick.”

Laura’s deep experience working with individuals with disabilities—including ADHD, autism, IDD, sensory impairments, and mental health challenges—has shaped her understanding of how to adapt learning environments for each individual. Her knowledge is informed not only by her education and professional background, but also by travel, reading, and the many meaningful relationships she’s formed over the years.

Outside of tutoring, Laura loves to make pottery, read widely, spend time in nature, cook, garden, and cuddle up with her two dogs.
