Meet Rory

Rory’s creative background and spirit of curiosity have always guided them personally and professionally. Their work as a teacher’s aide in college planted a seed that has grown into a meaningful career path, nurtured by experiences working with children and editing friends’ essays. Rory began tutoring professionally in 2020, and has expanded and honed their skills in the years since, working with clients from elementary to university levels in ELA, ESL, and a range of study skills. “Tutoring is deeply rewarding for me. My favorite part of my work is seeing a student’s confusion transform into clarity.”

Rory finds the Pacific Northwest — particularly our closeness to forests, water, and mountains — to be a calming influence that complements their interactions with students. They recognize that every student is unique; what helps one may hinder another, and an individualized, adaptable approach is key. Rory has a passion for working with students who are neurodiverse or facing anxiety. Informed and supported by their own lived experience of neurodiversity, they bring warmth and empathy to every meeting. “It is important to build a foundation of trust so students’ confidence in themselves increases — that is an essential ingredient for success.”

Rory views challenges as opportunities for holistic support, encouraging students’ growth. By modeling a love of learning and dedication to caring for ourselves and others, Rory inspires healthy habits for students in academic life and beyond.
