Part-Time Website Manager — WordPress, SEO & CRO

Job Description

Emergent Education is seeking a part-time Website Manager to maintain and improve our WordPress website, which is built with Elementor. This hands-on role combines ongoing technical care with collaborative projects focused on search engine optimization (SEO) and conversion rate optimization (CRO).

  • Competitive pay: $50–$80 per hour, depending on experience and expertise.
  • Flexible hours: Approximately 20 hours per month to start, with workload adjusted by mutual agreement.
  • Remote work: Set your own schedule, coordinating around project deadlines and occasional meetings with the director.

The role has two connected goals: keeping the website fast, reliable, and well maintained, and implementing changes that help prospective families find our services, understand their options, and connect with us.

Our website has evolved through contributions from several developers and designers over the years. Initially, you’ll spend time getting familiar with its structure, identifying technical issues and inconsistencies, and establishing a more organized foundation for ongoing maintenance. From there, you’ll balance routine site management with projects involving content, design, navigation, and functionality.

You’ll work closely with our director to develop priorities and carry projects from initial ideas through implementation and testing. We’re looking for a resourceful generalist who can understand the site as a whole, recommend practical improvements, and follow through on the details.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize the site: Improve speed and reliability, manage updates and backups, and resolve errors, broken links, and plugin conflicts.
  • Clean up the existing setup: Identify and address technical issues, unnecessary complexity, and inconsistencies left by previous site changes.
  • Implement SEO and CRO projects: Build and revise pages, layouts, navigation, forms, and site structure in WordPress and Elementor.
  • Write and improve content: Create and edit SEO-informed copy that reflects our voice, explains our services clearly, and encourages inquiries.
  • Collaborate and follow through: Work closely with the director to prioritize projects, recommend improvements, test changes, and assess results.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and building WordPress websites with Elementor.
  • Practical knowledge of site speed optimization, plugin management, and safe testing and publishing practices.
  • Strong design judgment and the ability to create consistent, accessible, mobile-friendly pages.
  • Strong SEO copywriting and editing skills, with an understanding of search intent, keyword research, and conversion-focused messaging.
  • A resourceful, independent approach, with clear communication and the ability to investigate an unfamiliar website and make meaningful improvements.

HTML/CSS skills and experience with Google Analytics, Search Console, and conversion tracking are a plus
