Our Approach to Test Preparation

Standardized tests favor people who’ve prepared, but not everyone learns and preps for tests the same way. And taking practice tests over and over isn’t the right solution.

Our one-on-one approach gives students the individualized attention they need to succeed. We’ll help your student identify their learning style, strengths, and problem areas and tailor the test prep tutoring for their needs to help them ace the exam and set them up for continuing success after test day. And, yes! There will be plenty of practice tests!

What Are the Benefits of Test Prep Tutoring?

Taking the SAT, ACT, or any other standardized test isn’t the same as taking a test in school. Standardized tests have different formats and expectations your student may not be familiar with. But prepping for the exam by taking practice tests and learning test-taking strategies can reduce test anxiety and help your student feel confident and ready to ace the exam on test day.

Build Confidence

While mastering the material is a good first step, knowing what to expect with the test format is the other half of the equation. From the multiple choice section to the essay questions, our tutors will work with your student to familiarize them with the entire test-taking process so they feel confident throughout the exam.

And if your student wants to raise their test scores, our tutors can help your student accomplish that goal, too!

Enhance Writing Skills

Some standardized tests include a timed essay writing section. Our tutors will help your student identify the most effective tactics to utilize the time effectively and write an essay that shines.

Improve Test Taking Skills

While each standardized test is different, you can use the same or similar test-taking strategies on any exam. Your student can take what they learn preparing for one test and apply those techniques to almost any test they take in school and beyond.

Tests We Help You Prep For

High School Admissions (SSAT/HSPT)

The Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) and High School Placement Test (HSPT) are part of the admissions process for private and parochial schools. Since students come from a wide variety of educational backgrounds, the tests serve as a standard measure of their skills and abilities.

Undergraduate Admissions (SAT/ACT)

While grades and activities matter to college admissions counselors, the ACT and SATs are just as important. These tests are unlike any other so working with a tutor to prepare can give your student the confidence they need to do their best.

And while the PSAT is a practice run for the SAT, doing well also opens the opportunity to receive merit scholarships to help pay for college.

GED

The Graduate Educational Development Test (GED) tests high school level knowledge of four areas: math, language arts, science, and social studies. Each knowledge area is a separate test and you have to pass all four to get your GED.
