Meet Claire
Having formerly struggled with anxiety and burnout in high school, Claire understands the challenges faced by neurodiverse students in today’s world. She believes in Paulo Freire’s notion that all learners are “beings who are authentic only when engaged in inquiry and creative transformation.” Her teaching approach is characterized by empathy and curiosity, focused on helping students to navigate challenges and build resiliency. In Claire’s sessions, mentor and student collaborate to balance personal and academic goals, strengthen skillsets, and develop self-confidence, all while honoring student wellbeing and values.
After moving to Seattle at nineteen, Claire started at community college and later transferred to the University of Washington, where she earned her B.A. in history. At UW, she worked as a writing tutor, assisting students from a range of academic backgrounds with everything from essays, personal statements, presentations, and a written guide on how to build a race car! She has recently completed her MPhil in Modern British History at the University of Cambridge and remains passionate about pursuing a career in academia.
Claire is a humanities-focused educator who specializes in supporting teenage students with writing-centered disciplines, college admissions prep, and time management. In her free time, she enjoys reading historical fiction, cross stitching, hiking, and making food for her family and friends. She looks forward to being a positive force for transformation in people’s academic and life journeys.
