Supporting Students

Meet Eric

Eric takes a people-first approach to leadership, ensuring tutors, students, and families feel supported while fostering long-term growth. That commitment to people and relationships has deep roots: Eric grew up surrounded by educators. His great-grandfather was a high school principal, and his grandmother, mother, and sister all taught in elementary schools. While he didn’t initially plan to follow in their footsteps, being immersed in a culture of learning gave him a lasting appreciation for education and the power of strong student–teacher relationships.

That appreciation deepened in college, where Eric studied Environmental Engineering and began tutoring classmates on the side. What started as a part-time job quickly became a calling. Over time, he came to see learning as a practice that extends far beyond academics. His natural curiosity and jack-of-all-trades mindset—spanning music, rock climbing, engineering, and more—shaped his belief that “when you develop yourself as a learner, you open the door to everything else.”

In 2020, Eric founded Emergent Education to put this philosophy into practice. He designed the company around connection, adaptability, and holistic growth, encouraging tutors to personalize their approach, emphasize critical thinking, and help students see the bigger picture of learning.

Today, Eric leads Emergent Education with a focus on long-term vision, tutor development, and family support. He remains closely involved in the tutoring process, always asking how to make learning more human, more holistic, and more empowering for everyone involved.
