Meet Kaleigh
As a Communications Specialist and Graphic Designer at NOAA, Kaleigh brings a uniquely interdisciplinary approach to education. She specializes in translating complex STEM concepts into engaging, accessible resources and says, “I feel most fulfilled when using communication to help students find that spark of interest in subjects that might otherwise feel boring, abstract, or unrelated.”
Kaleigh earned her B.S. in Environmental Sciences from the Oregon State University Honors College, where she focused on Scientific Communication, Graphic Design, and Oceanography. Her work as a Writing and Research Consultant at OSU’s Research and Writing Studio strengthened her ability to support students through the full academic process—from brainstorming and critical thinking to building confidence and independent problem-solving skills.
Deeply committed to inclusive learning, Kaleigh has mentored students across age groups and learning styles, including neurodivergent learners. Her experience includes youth STEM mentorship, community science engagement, and facilitating curiosity-driven learning at local OMSI events.
Kaleigh’s teaching philosophy reflects a strong growth mindset. She believes academic challenges are often multifaceted and prioritizes meeting students where they are. “Every student learns differently,” she notes. “For me, visuals and art are powerful tools for understanding complex ideas.” Above all, she values helping students feel empowered, capable, and confident in their learning.
