Meet Lux

Lux has always loved learning, and helping others find that same love. He sees tutoring as a
collaborative process that helps students build confidence and care in their studies. “My favorite
moments in tutoring are when a student and I reach an ‘a-ha!’ moment together, when something
suddenly opens up and begins to make sense.”

A recent graduate of Stanford University, Lux studied English Literature while pursuing research
across religious studies, ecology, and chemical engineering. He has tutored students in a variety
of subjects and age levels, ranging from early literacy to advanced math. Lux also enjoys helping
students strengthen their study skills and deepen their engagement with their work. Further, Lux
supports students through the college admissions process, including application strategy and
essay writing. Students he has worked with have gone on to be accepted at universities such as
Stanford, Berkeley, and Cambridge.

He also spent time tutoring at 826 Valencia, a nonprofit in San Francisco that helps underserved
youth strengthen their voices through creative writing and literacy programs. As a tutor, Lux
often draws on mindfulness practices and his experience working with students who are
neurodivergent. “I approach each session with empathy and attention, aiming to make learning
feel alive and connected to the wider world.”

Outside of the classroom, Lux enjoys soccer, books, forests, going on walks, and biking, having
once biked from Oregon to New York.
