Meet Annastasia
Originally from Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Annastasia moved to Portland in 2017 and discovered a passion for teaching through the Multnomah ESD Outdoor School program. As a Field Instructor, she designed experiential curriculum and trained teen volunteers to teach hydrology at the middle school level. Her creative, detail-oriented approach made complex concepts easy for students and teachers to understand.
Inspired by this work, Annastasia pursued a BA in Educational Studies with a focus in science education at WGU. While studying, she worked as a tutor, earning praise from parents for her ability to tailor lessons, keep learning fun, and spark genuine progress in both math and writing. She also joined Earth Expeditions to study community-based conservation and inquiry-based education abroad.
Annastasia later returned to Outdoor School as a Specific Needs Specialist, supporting students with diverse educational and behavioral needs. Since 2022, she has served as a long-term substitute teacher with Socorro Consolidated Schools, where her goal remains helping students develop confidence, curiosity, and a strong identity as learners.
Qualifications:
- BA in Educational Studies (Secondary Biological Education)
- Outdoor School Field Instructor, Program Instructor, and Specific Needs Specialist
- Substitute Teacher at Socorro Consolidated Schools
- Integrative Wellness Life Coach.
