Supporting Students

Meet Drew

Drew brings over six years of experience supporting students and young adults, with a focus on writing, academic confidence, and practical learning skills. An avid writer since childhood, he helps students express their ideas clearly, strengthen their writing, and develop their own voice. His warm, collaborative approach builds on students’ strengths and creates space to ask questions, work through challenges, and grow more independent.

Drew began his career as a peer writing tutor at the University of Oregon before moving into an administrative role after graduation. He provided one-on-one support with essays, grammar, reading comprehension, and personal statements, alongside broader academic advising and life skills development.

As a life skills coach at Mansfield Hall, Drew supported neurodivergent young adults attending the University of Oregon and Lane Community College. He helped students build time-management, problem-solving, communication, and emotional regulation skills. Patient and encouraging, he helps students re-engage when they feel frustrated or overwhelmed, balancing practical guidance with an understanding of the broader circumstances affecting their learning.

Drew currently works at New Avenues for Youth, where he has served as a College Access Specialist and Employment Coordinator supporting youth experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness. He has also volunteered as a middle school mentor. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, reading, and cooking new recipes for friends.
