Meet Shahden
Shahden brings curiosity, humor, and a passion for clarity into every session. With nearly a decade of experience helping students turn uncertainty into confidence, she’s known for making complex ideas simple, engaging, and relevant. Whether guiding a learner through algebra, calculus, or IB coursework, she adapts her teaching style to each student’s rhythm and goals.
Her approach combines analytical precision with emotional intelligence, encouraging students not only to master the material but also to understand how they learn. “The most rewarding moments are when a student realizes they’ve gained a new understanding of what they’re learning.”
Before joining Emergent, Shahden worked at the University of Oregon Libraries, supporting students and faculty in mathematics, research, data organization, and academic writing. That experience deepened her appreciation for learning as a collaborative process—one that thrives on curiosity, structure, and open communication. Over the years, she has mentored learners from middle school through college, helping them build lasting academic confidence across subjects.
Now, she brings that same spirit to her tutoring, helping students connect abstract concepts to the real world and develop the tools to tackle new challenges independently.
