Meet Tevita
Tevita is an educator with experience supporting students across elementary and middle school settings. Originally from Oahu, Hawaii, he moved to Oregon to attend the University of Oregon, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy. Over the past several years, Tevita has worked as a classroom teacher, instructional assistant, learning specialist, and youth mentor, developing a broad understanding of how students learn and grow both academically and personally. His experience includes working in inclusion classrooms and supporting students with a wide range of learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
Tevita believes that meaningful learning begins with strong relationships. Known for his easygoing and empathetic approach, he takes time to understand each student’s strengths, challenges, interests, and goals before tailoring his support to meet their individual needs. Colleagues describe him as creative, flexible, and highly effective at connecting with students, including those who may be reluctant learners or who struggle with self-regulation and executive functioning.
“I always try to meet students where they are academically and help them build confidence in their abilities. Every student learns differently, and I enjoy finding approaches that make learning more engaging, accessible, and meaningful.”
Tevita enjoys supporting students in a variety of subjects, particularly elementary and middle school math, science, social studies, and humanities. He is passionate about helping students develop not only academic skills, but also the independence, resilience, and self-confidence that contribute to long-term success in school and beyond.
Outside of education, Tevita is an accomplished musician and artist. He is classically trained in violin and enjoys learning and playing a variety of instruments in his free time.
