Elisa Silvas

Elisa (Eh-lee-suh) is a local school psychologist and tutor with six years of experience supporting students from elementary school through college. She holds a BA in Literature and Writing from Cal State San Marcos and an EdS in School Psychology from Lewis & Clark College.

Elisa began tutoring college students in writing, history, science, and math before focusing on reading and writing with younger students. As a first-generation college graduate, she understands the challenges of navigating college admissions and has led workshops on writing personal statements.

More recently, Elisa has worked in elementary and middle school settings, providing academic and behavioral interventions, helping students build skills, and creating opportunities for them to practice self-advocacy and communication with their teachers. She believes effective tutoring starts with understanding how each student learns and building a relationship grounded in trust, consistency, and encouragement. “Sometimes we try something hard, and we don’t get the result we hoped for. What matters is that we keep showing up for ourselves and notice how our growth unfolds over time.”

Outside of tutoring, Elisa enjoys learning about space, biology, philosophy, and cultural studies. She spends her free time reading science fiction and fantasy novels, reading comics, crocheting, and hanging out with her cats. Elisa uses she/her pronouns.

• Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology, Lewis & Clark College
• 4+ years working with neurodivergent students
• 6 years of tutoring experience
