Erica Xia

Erica is a patient and empathetic tutor who believes every student has the capacity to grow, build confidence, and succeed. With a background in mathematics, data science, and language studies—and upcoming graduate training in counseling—she brings both strong academic expertise and a thoughtful, human-centered approach to learning.

Over the past two years, Erica has supported students across a wide range of subjects, including math, test prep, programming, and Mandarin. She creates a low-pressure, collaborative environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and working through challenges step by step. Her sessions focus not just on getting the right answer, but on helping students understand how to think through problems and develop lasting confidence in their abilities. “My goal is to help students not just understand the material, but to trust themselves as learners.”

As a future youth counselor, Erica brings a holistic perspective to her work. She is especially attuned to the emotional side of learning—helping students navigate frustration, build resilience, and develop a more positive relationship with school.

• Tutoring experience across math, SAT/ACT prep, programming, and Mandarin
• B.A. in Applied Statistics and Economics, UC Davis
• M.S. in Applied Data Science, University of Southern California (USC)
