Meet Ginger

Ginger is a dedicated Special Education teacher with nearly a decade of experience working with students from kindergarten through high school. A native Oregonian, her passion for education began early. Inspired by her brother with an intellectual disability, she started volunteering in his classroom as a peer tutor in high school. Her commitment to supporting diverse learners continued in college, where she worked as a middle school social worker while earning her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction at Portland State University.

Ginger initially pursued a career in curriculum development, focusing on creating culturally responsive materials to reflect the experiences of students from all walks of life. During this time, she collaborated with school counselors to implement socio-emotional curricula in Portland middle schools. This experience reignited her love for the classroom and inspired her to work directly with students.

As a mother of a neurodiverse child, Ginger brings both professional and personal insight to her role as an educator. When she chose to pursue a second Master’s degree in Special Education with teaching licensure, she focused on serving students from Pre-K through age 21. Her work in Special Education allows her to support learners with diverse needs and help them achieve their full potential.

In addition to her classroom teaching, Ginger has worked as a tutor for the past four years, tailoring her approach to each student’s unique needs. She also serves on multiple boards that advise teachers and policymakers on best practices in Special Education.

Outside of work, Ginger is a mom of three and enjoys hiking and camping with her family during the warmer months.
